I liked it so much i even went and brought a print of it! ( My first ever purchase on deviantart, lol and my first ever putting a stretcher frame together too!!!! ). He now has pride of place on my living room wall all 36x24" of him.....His no Dark Angel though, but he is deep and dark enough to keep the enermies of humanity from invading my flat....well most of the time anyway lol!
Hoping a Dark Angel will eventually show up to give him backup!!!!
This piece is so Solemn. My grasp on artistic techniques are poor at best but the transition from the darkness into the light and the stoicism on his handsome face encapsulates the constant balance a scion of Sanguinius faces.
tl;dr I love it and it's awesome cuz I'm a Blood Angel fanboy
Yeah man I wish they were endless...which they kind of are haha. But I really wish all of hollywoods money and equipment went to the gamesworkshop headquarters and they made the opening trilogy to the heresy.
Surely you have captured the very soul and noble character of the Blood Angels in this painting. Each time I see it, my imagination wanders off on some new episode of his story. Thank you for sharing such an inspiring work of art with us.
Easily one of the best pieces of 40K art I've ever seen, particularly when it comes to Adeptus Astartes of any chapter. The proportions remain accurately heroic without being on the ridiculous end of it as some (still very talented) artists like to go when depicting space marines, and the amount of realistic details amidst the armor's intricate embellishments really do justice to the gothic science-fantasy theme of WH40K. The air intakes on the jump pack and the green purity seals in particular draw the eye, and I love the angelic nature of the marine's facial features as befits his specific chapter.
Major kudos, and good luck with your other projects!
I noticed you mentioned not having time to get to that idea before and I'd be overjoyed to see what comes of any future progress with it, given the genuine justice you do to space marines in both scale, quality and detail. A template like this would allow for polished consistency amidst the variety that made each Legion so appealing and unique even before the Horus Heresy.
As daunting as a task as it might seem I'd likewise be thrilled to see any Second Founding chapters following in the wake of the 18 Legions. I might just be biased about wanting to see Black Templar artwork drawn as masterfully as that of your Blood Angel, though!
The only doubt I have about this "project" is if to respect the composition and pose in all them, or change both composition and pose according to the personality of each Legion/Chapter. The first option seems more consistent for a serie, while the other is perhaps more fun.
